THE FONTENAY-AUX-ROSES ATELIER
Only 8 kilometers outside of Paris city centre it is possible to visit the home/workshop where the two artists Létourneur and Zwobada lived with Antonia Fiermonte.
An extraordinary place upon which art and passion have left an indelible mark. At the end of June 2021 an 800 kilogram bronze joined the Centre Pompidou. Two stylized silhouettes that rush and embrace each other facing the rooftops of Paris – a couple united in a pursuit towards the unknown.
Dated 1959, this “Chevauchée nocturne” (Nocturnal ride) by artist Jacques Zwobada is a tribute to his late muse. The monumental work has undergone a delicate restoration. A gift from the artist’s daughter, it is one of the Museum’s exceptional new acquisitions.
