Suspended between sky and sea in Roca Vecchia

There’s a moment when the wind stops being invisible and takes on shape, color, and emotion. From June 13 to 15, Roca Vecchia once again becomes the stage for the International Kite Festival, the “Giants in Flight.” Three days of pure wonder, between sky and sea, where childhood awakens and the landscape turns into poetry. In a four-hectare space overlooking the blue of Salento, the wind will be the true star, dancing with giant kites from all over Italy and various European countries. Real works of art suspended in the sky, guided by skilled hands, will create a show that enchants every age. More than just a spectacle, this is about inclusion, sustainability, and sharing. The Festival was born to tell the story of a territory – Melendugno – through the universal language of beauty. Alongside aerial displays, there will be workshops for children, live concerts, artisan markets, zero-kilometre tastings, and activities dedicated to biodiversity, recycling, and collective well-being. An event that celebrates wind as a clean resource and promotes local excellence (such as honey and handcrafted wicker and terracotta items). It involves schools, associations, and families in an experience that leaves a mark – on both the heart and the environment: a different way of looking at the world, with your head in the clouds and your soul feeling light.
