There are photographs that are not only seen, they are felt. At the Aragonese Castle of Otranto, until June 28, the exhibition “Ukraine: the tragedy of a people, a wound to Europe” opens a deep window onto the reality of war. Around 80 shots by photographers from the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers portray faces, silences, rubble, and resilience. It is a visual journey that restores dignity and voice to a wounded people, suspended between pain and hope.
The images, also shaped by the work of Mstyslav Chernov, Oscar, BAFTA, and Pulitzer Prize winner, do not seek effects: they strike with their truth. They tell of shattered lives and everyday courage, turning photography into a living testimony. In the heart of Otranto,a city that has historically looked eastward, this exhibition becomes a gesture of closeness and remembrance. An invitation not to look away, to recognize that this wound belongs to us all.
